A Fascinating Journey through City of Love

Often referred to as the "City of Love," Paris is renowned for its romantic ambiance, rich history, world-class museums like the Louvre, and iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.
With my brother-like friend living there, Paris has become my second home since 2022. On the one hand, this city has filled my heart with its splendor and charm; on the other hand, it is also the place where I received the news of my father's death. Paris is close to my heart for so many reasons. I am writing this to document a few of those special places and emotions in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Paris.
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower stands proudly as the most iconic monument in Paris, and its fame extends beyond France, making it one of the stunning landmarks worldwide. Its magnificence is nothing short of sheer splendor, captivating all who lay eyes upon it.
When I first saw the Eiffel Tower, I was absolutely awe-struck and overwhelmed with it's sheer size and grandeur. As I stood there, looking at the towering iron marvel, a mix of excitement, wonder, and admiration filled my heart.

The Eiffel Tower's intricate and elegant curves, gracefully stretching towards the sky, was a sight to behold. The sparkling lights that adorned the tower at night made it even more captivating against the dark backdrop of the city.

Whenever I visit Paris, the Eiffel Tower becomes a place of comfort and familiarity for me. Throughout my time in Paris, the Eiffel Tower has been a constant source of joy. I find myself drawn to it repeatedly, whether during the day or night, as if it is calling me back to bask in its majestic aura.

The allure of the Eiffel Tower never diminished for me, and with each return, I felt a fresh surge of wonder and joy. Amidst laughter, heartfelt conversations, and shared moments of happiness, it served as a backdrop to our treasured experiences.

When I visit Paris, my friend's house has become like a second home, and our bond has grown so close that we feel like family. A favorite pastime for us is heading to the Eiffel Tower area to have fun and indulge in delicious street food. Whether we're at Trocadéro or the Seine River bank, the view of the Eiffel Tower never fails to amaze us.

Shakespeare and Company
Shakespeare and Company is an absolute must-go place for me! As an avid reader, I seize every opportunity to visit this beautiful, cozy bookstore. I still vividly remember the day I finally stepped inside after patiently waiting in the queue for more than 30 minutes.

Once I began browsing through the books, time seemed to melt away. I made my way upstairs and settled into a cozy seat by the window. Outside, the gentle rain added a touch of serenity to the air, creating a perfect backdrop for the symphony of a piano playing softly behind me.


In that moment, everything felt just right - this was my kind of day! A day to lose myself in the stories that nourish my soul and to be swept away by the soothing melody that danced around me.

Even today, when I visit Paris, I always make a point to go to Shakespeare and Company, whether it's for a heartwarming solitude with a book or to savor a cup of coffee at the café.

Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum holds a special place in my heart. Its unique blend of architectural grandeur, historical significance, and artistic treasures always leaves me in awe.


I remember the day I stood in front of this magnificent structure for the first time. Its sheer size and regal appearance took my breath away, and I couldn't wait to step inside and explore its wonders.

As we entered the museum, we felt an overwhelming sense of excitement and reverence. The Louvre's central location in the city adds to its allure, and being surrounded by history and art in this iconic place is a truly unforgettable experience.

Walking through its vast galleries, I was humbled to be in the presence of renowned masterpieces, like the mesmerizing Mona Lisa. Each step I took, I discovered something new – from intricate sculptures to captivating paintings and intriguing archaeological artifacts. The Louvre's collection spans across various buildings, making it an endless journey of discovery and appreciation. We spent the whole day starting from early morning and it wasn't enough.






Yet, it's during the evening when the Louvre truly transforms into a magical wonderland. The enchanting lighting casts an ethereal glow upon its facade, and the museum takes on a surreal charm. As the night falls, I find myself captivated by the stunning display of lights that elevate the Louvre's beauty to another level.

Each visit deepens my love for culture and inspires me to explore the beauty and richness of the world's heritage. It's an experience that has left an indelible mark on my soul, and I can't wait to return and embrace its captivating allure once again.

Arc de Triomphe
Visiting the Arc de Triomphe was an exhilarating experience for me. As I stood beneath the towering arch, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for the historic monument and the stories it holds.

The arch was built to honor those who fought and died for France during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. It stands at a height of 50 meters and is adorned with sculptures and reliefs that depict various military triumphs and historic events.

Sacré-Cœur Basilica
The Sacré-Cœur Basilica, is a popular tourist attraction and a significant religious site. It is situated at the highest point in the city, offering breathtaking views of Paris.

Sacré-Cœur Basilica's architectural beauty is a masterpiece of Romano-Byzantine style, with its striking white dome and intricate details. The basilica's design and grandeur leave visitors captivated, making it a timeless symbol of Parisian splendor.

The Sacré-Cœur Basilica holds great religious importance as it is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I normally take a long walk to this place to enjoy the sunset with thousands of other people coming from all over the world. The panoramic view of the city combined with music and a lively crowd always makes the atmosphere magical.

Palace of Versailles
Visiting The Chateau de Versailles was a day of wonder and splendor, starting with the breathtaking gardens that enchanted me from the moment I arrived. We took a train from Paris, and the anticipation of exploring this historic palace filled me with excitement.


As we strolled through the vast gardens, I couldn't help but marvel at their grandeur. The perfectly manicured lawns, magnificent fountains, and intricate sculptures created an idyllic escape from the bustling city. It felt like stepping into a dreamland of natural beauty.


Upon entering the chateau, the opulence and history enveloped me. The Hall of Mirrors was a sight to behold, its dazzling mirrors reflecting the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Walking through the Royal Apartments, I imagined the lavish lifestyle of the French royalty, surrounded by exquisite artworks and luxurious furnishings.

The day passed by in a whirlwind of exploration and admiration. From the meticulously designed rooms to the picturesque gardens, every corner of The Chateau de Versailles exuded majesty and elegance. As the sun set, I knew I had experienced something truly unforgettable, and the memory of this extraordinary journey would forever hold a special place in my heart.

Blissful Parks
Paris is truly a haven of blissful parks, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced the joy and relaxation they offer.

Whether it's the iconic Luxembourg Gardens, the charming Tuileries Garden, or the sprawling Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, every park in Paris has its own magic. People from all walks of life gather here, seeking solace amidst the bustling city. Some lie on the grass, reading books or simply soaking in the warmth of the sun, while others engage in leisurely conversations, savoring the pleasure of human connection.

As we wander through the pathways, surrounded by the vibrant colors of flowers and the calming sound of flowing water, we are reminded of the simple joys of life. These parks celebrate life in its purest form, inviting us to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the present moment.

Cozy Cafes
Paris is undoubtedly a haven for cafes, and as someone who isn't a big coffee enthusiast, I still find immense joy in sitting at these charming establishments and immersing myself in the vibrant cafe culture.

One of my favorite ways to start the day is with a classic Parisian breakfast: a buttery croissant and a cup of coffee. As the morning sunlight bathes the city, I find myself in the company of locals and fellow travelers, all basking in the same comforting ritual.

The cafe experience in Paris goes beyond just coffee; it's about embracing the ambiance and savoring every moment. It's about observing the world go by from the sidewalk tables, feeling the rhythm of the city in the background. The gentle chatter, the clinking of cups, and the laughter of friends all blend together, creating an atmosphere that feels like a slice of paradise.

In the evenings, the cafe scene transforms into a place of camaraderie. I often meet up with friends, old and new, to share stories and laughter. These cafes become our refuge, where time slows down, and the worries of the world seem to fade away.

Charming Streets
Paris' charm is undeniable, and with every step, I find myself falling in love with its unique blend of history, art, and culture. Walking through the beautiful streets of Paris is like stepping into a timeless masterpiece.

The city's architectural beauty is a sight to behold, with majestic landmarks gracing every corner. As I wander through the avenues, the intricate facades of buildings seem to tell stories of a rich history that spans centuries.

Passing by the iconic Moulin Rouge in the vibrant district of Montmartre, the allure of Parisian nightlife comes to life. The dazzling lights and vibrant atmosphere create an electrifying energy that is truly captivating.

But it's by the serene banks of the Seine River where I find a moment of serenity amidst the bustling city. The gentle flow of the river and the picturesque bridges create a postcard-worthy scene, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful moment of reflection.

In the bustling streets of Paris, you'll find street vendors offering a delightful array of books and magazines. Their charming stalls add a touch of literary magic to the city's vibrant atmosphere.

With every step, I am immersed in the city's magic, and it's an experience that leaves an indelible mark on my heart.
The Joy of Mall Walking
When visiting Paris, one of our favorite pastimes is indulging in the joy of mall walking. While the city is renowned for its historical landmarks and cultural treasures, its modern and stylish shopping centers add another dimension to the Parisian experience. Among the array of malls, Galeries Lafayette holds a special place in our hearts.

One of the highlights of Galeries Lafayette is its rooftop terrace, providing a breathtaking panorama of Paris. As we ascend to the top, the cityscape unfolds before our eyes, revealing iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Opera Garnier, and Montmartre's majestic hill. This enchanting view adds a touch of romance and wonder, reminding us of the dreamy allure that Paris exudes.

Great Food
Paris is a culinary paradise with a vast array of food options to satisfy every palate. From the buttery delight of Croissants to the delicate allure of crêpes, the city offers a gastronomic journey that delights the senses.

Alongside delectable French cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised to discover Bangladeshi food in the heart of Paris, near Gare du Nord. Amidst the bustling streets, I found a taste of home, savoring authentic flavors that transported me back to familiar tastes and memories.

Paris truly embraces global diversity, making it a haven for food lovers from all around the world, where even a simple cup of coffee becomes a moment of bliss in the city of dreams.

Apart from that, every time I come back from Paris, I bring with me Hilsha fish, Ruhi Fish, and authentic Bangladeshi Polao Rice and Spices.
Celebration of Friendship
Paris has become more than just a city; it's a celebration of friendship for me. With my dear friend living in Paris, we stay with him and his wife at the heart of this enchanting place. Our friendship dates back to our university days when we used to meet every day. Although he moved to Paris after graduation, our bond remains unchanged.
In Paris, we relish each other's company, indulging in late-night movies, parties, cooking and eating together, and engaging in heartwarming conversations - and sometimes, passionate debates. Our relationship has gracefully endured the test of time and distance, and I am endlessly grateful for these unforgettable moments shared in the City of Light.
Celebration of Eid and Bengali New Year (Pohela Boishakh)
This year, the Bengali New Year coincided with Eid, adding an extra layer of joy and festivity to our celebrations. We were incredibly fortunate to join the vibrant Bangladeshi community in Paris, where we immersed ourselves in the rich traditions and cultural heritage of both occasions. Despite being far from home, we felt a profound sense of belonging and solidarity within the community, reinforcing the bonds that tie us together as one global family.



Throughout our stay, we were warmly welcomed into various gatherings and events, where we shared not only delicious food but also the genuine camaraderie and spirit of togetherness that define these festive moments. From heartfelt conversations to joyous laughter, every interaction filled our hearts with a sense of belonging and connection. In 2024, my friend and I traveled to Paris to celebrate the biggest Muslim festival, Eid ul Fitr.





Champions League Clash: PSG vs. Barcelona
On the day of Eid, amidst the joyous celebrations in Paris, another electrifying event was unfolding – the highly anticipated encounter between PSG and Barcelona in the Champions League of 2024. Thanks to my friend's thoughtful gesture, we found ourselves amidst the buzzing atmosphere of the stadium, eagerly awaiting the thrilling match ahead.



As we stepped into the stadium, the air was charged with excitement, and the energy was palpable. The stands were a sea of colors, filled with passionate fans from both sides, their cheers echoing throughout the stadium.
The match began with PSG taking an early lead, igniting roars of approval from their supporters. But Barcelona, with their relentless determination, fought back valiantly. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, with every pass, every tackle, and every goal sending the crowd into a frenzy of anticipation and excitement.
Despite PSG's initial dominance, Barcelona emerged victorious with a stunning 3-2 win. The stadium erupted in cheers and applause as the final whistle blew, signaling the end of an exhilarating match.

Though our Eid celebrations took a detour into the world of football, it was an experience like no other. Witnessing the passion and intensity of the game, surrounded by fellow fans, was a thrilling addition to our day of festivities. And while the result may not have been in PSG's favor, the sheer excitement and energy of the match made it a truly unforgettable experience.
Challenges of Paris
Bustling Paris faces challenges as over 30 million tourists visit annually, straining the city's cleanliness. Periodic strikes disrupt public transportation, impacting both locals and visitors. During strikes, uncollected garbage can make streets untidy and unpleasant. Though some complain, understanding the realities of managing a popular city is vital. Despite challenges, Paris remains a captivating destination with its timeless beauty and rich culture. Embracing both splendor and obstacles, the city continues to enchant and inspire travelers from around the world, even as some may encounter the peculiar phenomenon of Paris Syndrome.
Au Revoir: Until We Meet Again in the City of Light and Love
Paris, one of my favorite cities in the world, is special to me for so many reasons. It's a city where I've celebrated life and cherished friendships, and where I've found nourishment for my soul through its rich history, art, and culture. Every time, I bid a heartfelt farewell in the enchanting City of Light and Love, I carry with me memories that are etched in my heart. Goodbye for now, but the promise of future rendezvous fills me with joy and anticipation.

Metz
Apart from Paris, I have visited another city in France with my colleagues. We embarked on a charming day trip to the city of Metz. Though it may not shine as brightly as the vibrant allure of Paris, Metz left a lasting impression on us. Situated near the German border, this clean and organized city embraced us with its peaceful ambiance and unique charm. Despite its smaller size, the beauty and tranquility of Metz captivated our hearts, creating a truly memorable experience.





A Day in Moret-sur-Loing
Under the radiant sun, we explored the charming town of Moret-sur-Loing. Along the peaceful riverbank, we savored artisanal ice cream, played games, and reveled in laughter. The gentle murmur of the Loing River provided a serene backdrop to our delightful day. Surrounded by historic charm and natural beauty, each moment was a cherished memory in the heart of France.

Under the azure sky, we ventured to Etretat Beach, immersing ourselves in coastal wonders. Amidst the rocky beach and crashing waves, we embraced laughter, exploration, and the serenity of nature's embrace. Each moment, a treasure etched into the fabric of our cherished memories.
