The Rewarding Experience of Teaching

The Rewarding Experience of Teaching
The Best Teachers Are Those Who Show You Where to Look but Don't Tell You What to See

My journey into the world of teaching started when I started my undergraduate studies at the University of Dhaka back in 2011. Through the years 2011-2015, I had the privilege of sharing knowledge directly with approximately 15,000 students in the classrooms, engaging with them face-to-face.

My association with the country's largest University Coaching Center (UCC) allowed me to engage with diverse groups of students. For students hailing from a business background, gaining admission to the University of Dhaka (C Unit) was nothing short of a monumental achievement, given the fiercely competitive admission test process. As an accounting teacher for five years, I traveled across different cities such as Dhaka, Barisal, and Rajshahi, offering my guidance to help aspirant students prepare themselves for the daunting admission test. While regular class sizes averaged around 40-50 students, the hall for problem solving sessions could accommodate up to a staggering 500 eager minds, all under one expansive auditorium roof. This was where students from all corners of the nation converged, seeking the key to unlocking their dreams. I took immense pride and satisfaction in being able to facilitate their journeys.

Juggling the needs of such a multitude of talented and motivated students, all within the same class, occasionally posed challenges. However, the experience was as rewarding as it was demanding. After three years of teaching, I also took on the role of heading the accounting department of UCC. This meant that alongside my classroom activities, I became responsible for creating detailed lecture materials. These materials were then shared across the country to more than 50 branches of the UCC. Additionally, I had the chance to be part of rewriting the UCC's accounting book- ABACUS. This included tasks like writing, editing, and updating the content to keep the book up-to-date and accurate. Since I left UCC, it has been passed on to another writer to keep it updated.

Beyond my affiliation with UCC, I also had my own coaching centers in two distinct locations in Dhaka- Mouchak and Framgate. Here, I provided supplementary support to students who sought additional assistance beyond their regular coaching.

The joys of teaching, engaging in meaningful dialogues with my students, and witnessing their growth were indescribable. Even though teaching was a part-time pursuit during my undergraduate years, it helped me sustain myself financially, set aside savings, and shoulder family responsibilities at an early age.

Reflecting upon those years, I can confidently say that being a teacher has been a constant source of fulfillment and inspiration, shaping not only the paths of countless students' lives but also my own personal and professional journey.
